On June 28th, FINCA Microfinance Holding Company transferred operations and ownership of FINCA El Salvador to Optima Financial Services. Optima is an El Salvador based institution that shares FINCA’s commitment to providing responsible financial services to clients of all income levels.
Under Optima, the clients and staff of El Salvador will have opportunities for future growth with a locally owned microfinance company founded and run by energetic social entrepreneurs with the resources to grow the business. Optima Financial Services has a proven track record in this competitive market of delivering exceptional customer service and expanding financial access to the bottom of the pyramid. FINCA will maintain a financial relationship with Optima for the next several years to ensure our programs continue and the commitment to clients persevere.
FINCA helped establish the microfinance market in El Salvador. This is where we proved, starting in 1985, that reaching the “unbanked” was not only a worthy undertaking but also a sustainable way to assist the poor to generate income through microenterprise. We are very proud of that legacy, of the way the microfinance industry has grown up over the last three decades, and of the lasting positive impact that FINCA has made for generations of Salvadorians.
